Manage a firm's IP allow list

Add an IP allow list to your Grid login process to create an additional layer of login security.

Your IP allow list contains all trusted user IP addresses or IP address ranges that are authorized to access your firm's data in Grid. If a login attempt is made from an unlisted IP address, that access is restricted.

IP allow lists are assigned at the firm level. Once activated, Grid validates each login request based on a user's login credentials and the IP address from where the login is occurring.

Note

Users logging in with the proper credentials, but from an IP address that is not contained in the firm's IP allow list receive an access denied message. No other information is provided. This communication is intentionally constructed without any additional information for security purposes.

Prerequisites

You must have the following information available when you submit a request to create an IP allow list for your firm:

  • Complete list of trusted IP addresses or IP address ranges from where approved users are connecting.

  • Contact information for one or more individuals responsible for maintaining your IP allow list.

Only the account's designated primary contact can request updates to an IP allow list. Moody's recommends designating multiple primary contacts in case one is not immediately available.

  • Confirm all current user login credentials are valid.

Create a new or update an existing IP allow list

To create a new IP allow list or to update an existing one:

  1. Contact our Client Service team by e-mailing ma_kyc_support@moodys.com.

  2. Provide the following information:

    • Authorized names and IP addresses.

    • Name and contact information of your account's designated primary contact.

Note

Requests to add or modify the contents within an IP allow list can only be made by an account's designated primary contact.
